A very special thank you to Cera, our Lunch Inn steward, for the amazing and selfless job she did! Cera gave so much of her time and energy to make sure everyone was well fed and cared for. Her hard work, generosity, and dedication were truly extraordinary. And thank you to all of the Lunch Inn volunteers who worked alongside her, helping keep hungry Cattle Raiders fed. A huge thank you to our Feast-o-crat, Riberlin, for an absolutely amazing feast! (I know she won’t read this, but we still want to thank her) From the delicious food to her wonderful and hilarious cow-themed creations, she brought amazing cooking and great fun to the Cattle Raids table.
Of course, even the finest Feast-o-crat cannot pull off a feast alone! Our heartfelt thanks to Tofa, our Hall Steward, and to the entire feast crew: everyone who helped with set-up, food prep, serving, and the enormous job of clean-up afterward. A feast runs smoothly because many hands are working behind the scenes, and we are so grateful to every one of you who stepped in and helped. (Tofa, Gwyneth, Jay, Laurencia, Roslyn, Emma, Istvan, Azalais, Uji, Isadora, and Vasilla’s amazing seating chart and table markers. Also, the gentleman who washed dishes THE ENTIRE TIME! I don’t know who he was, but he deserves an award.)
Thank you to all of the fighters, and especially to the marshals and everyone who helped make the fighting possible. (Volkmar, Mikhail, Uji, Taiisia, Anne, Vasilla). Also, our archers and archery volunteers. (Yoichi, and all who put up the tent amid the mosquito invasion…you know who you are.) And our fighters and archers couldn’t do what they do without the waterbearers. (Istvan, Jay, Felix)
A big thank you to Adelheid for planning our youth activities. With bubbles, water fights, and more, there was plenty of laughter, splashing, and summertime fun for the kiddos. And thank you to Halftroll and Violet for leading teen D&D, giving our adventurers a chance to roll the dice, use their imaginations, and embark on quests!
A very special thank you to the amazing equestrians, some of whom came from far and wide to join us. (Like feast, I know they won’t see this, but we want to thank them.) The horses, mules, and riders added something truly special to Cattle Raids, and we are so grateful they made the journey to be with us. Thank you to the target painting volunteers. The equestrians loved the targets! Also, thanks to Asa and Gerald for the use of the wheel barrows.
Thank you as well to our Baron and Baroness for their leadership, support, and presence throughout the event.
Finally, to anyone whose name we may have inadvertently missed, please know that it was never meant as a slight. So many people stepped forward to lend a hand, often without being asked and sometimes without us even knowing who had done the work! Every contribution, large or small, helped make Cattle Raids the wonderful event it was. We saw you, we appreciated you, and we are grateful for every single person who pitched in to make the day a success.
Our feet may be sore and our hands may be tired, but let our hearts rejoice at a job well done!
And so, one final thank you to all who helped make Cattle Raids happen. The cow may have jumped over the moon, the little dog may have laughed, and the dish may have run away with the spoon…but Mag Mor showed up, pitched in, and got the cattle safely home.
